Kyoto Hemp Forum - 3D Printing

3D printing is a relatively new technology (about a quarter century) that gives us the ability to make what we need when we need it. The simplest way to explain 3D printing is to call up the memory of the old dot matrix printers that spit out small jets of ink onto paper for printing. The next logical step was the decision not to stop at just ink and paper, but use the computer to place materials in the precise locations to make whatever we need.

For example, we can make clothes that fit, food that is delicious and nutritious, cars that drive themselves and planes that travel great distances. We can even build buildings and body parts. Of course it can all be done using hemp and other non-toxic materials.

Chris Conrad’s book HEMP: LIFELINE TO THE FUTURE (HLLTTF) calls hemp, this amazing plant ‘Earth’s Premiere Sustainable Resource.’(vii) Nowhere is this more applicable than in the world of 3D printing

Hemp’s versatility can fuel the new age printing (3D, 4D, 5D plus what’s next) evolution.  Hemp fabrics, plastics, papers, woods, foods, adobe, hempcrete, etc. are perfect raw resource materials (ink / filament) to fuel this evolution.

Kyoto Hemp Forum’s Paul Benhaim is introducing his brand of hemp plastic 3D printing filament, ink on July 2, 2016.

Hemp based 3D printers and filaments eliminate the need to abuse precious resources by using a stronger, non-toxic plant.  The 3D printing technique called ‘contour crafting’ builds a 2,500 sq. foot structure in less than 24 hours. This allows us to build with rounded edges that wind does not damage, and mix building materials for waterproofing, reducing indoor radiation and fire resistance. 3D printed body parts are already in use.

Chris is right. Hemp is not only our lifeline to the future, it is our lifeline to the present too, just in time for the future.

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Agriculture

When the problem is not enough food, the solution is to grow more food. Hemp foods solve that problem. When the problem is homelessness, the solution is to grow more raw resource material to make homes out of. Solving our agricultural problems using basic science can co-create abundant, healthy harvests.

“Hemp improves the physical condition of the soil, and when retted on the same ground where it grows, it returns most of the fertilizing elements” Hemp, Lifeline To The Future by Chris Conrad pg. 167

Hemp breathes in the excess global warming CO2 gas from the air as it grows” said Richard M. Davis, USA Hemp Museum

Focusing on agriculture is the best way to begin the process of using hemp to help us deal with climate change. As we rebuild our agricultural structure from the foundation, roots up we must scientifically factor in farming basics. Water, soil condition, seeds, temperatures and lights.

From using a magnetic vortex water cleaning system, to better lighting i.e. , empowering system to choosing the perfect seeds for the environment, our agriculture portion of the hemp solution is key to not only reversing climate change, but also aiding the special needs of people now designated in the USA as "climate change refugees"

Serious Seeds - Time 4 Hemp

Hemp is a powerful, fast growing plant that has tens of thousands of applications, and that number does not factor in 3D printing.  With a growing span of 90-120 days, we can begin the process to Phytoremediate Earth.

The male plant is primarily used for industrial uses and the female plant for medical and recreational uses. Yes, the plant can even change genders. Either way, hemp can help us achieve a cleaner, healthier world.

Since hemp can grow in any agronomic farming system and requires no toxic chemicals to grow it is what Willie Nelson calls “A Peaceful Solution”.

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Sustainability

Websters has a perfect definition of the word sustainable: “able to be used without being completely used up or destroyed; involving methods that do not completely use up or destroy natural resources; able to last or continue for a long time.”

“Sustainability isn’t part of our work – it’s a guiding influence for all of our work.” Says the USA Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). To many hemp activists, it is the purpose of our being.

Phytoremediation of hemp, tobacco, mushrooms, thistle, sunflowers etc., plus using hemp as a primary raw resource material for 3D printing, can help us co-create a better world. To preserve human life on earth, it is imperative that we reach beyond our illusion of self and realize that we are each responsible for at least 7 generations ahead. People are dying and/or loosing their minds from the legal toxic lead, nuclear, benzene, oil based plastics, medicines that can kill to heal an itch, etc.

History is full of countless failures to abide by this simple principle of providing for seven generations ahead.

Here’s an idea from Pato Banton II on how to do the right thing.

"Three ways that I practice "Sustainability" in my life and work is to
1. grow food in my garden
2. recycle our waste in separate areas
3. share my clothes, shoes and other items with the homeless and charity organizations."

Hemp is a tool we can use to not only restore sustainability as a guiding principle in policy, but expand it so we are sustaining healthy, happy and prosperous lives well into the future.

Since hemp grows so quickly, we can plant enough to fulfill our needs for housing, food, clothes, etc. without having to burden the future with the waste of our lives.

"What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve."

Sustainability Achieved. Party on!

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Plastics

There are topics that just need to be handed to the Guru in the field, Paul Benhaim

Hemp plastics are not made from hemp oil or hemp seeds, but from the stalk. They are the preferred options to PP-glass fiber, High Heat ABS and PC/ABS.
Flame retardant for specific grades, using halogen-free additives.

Not only do we supply granules, we provide smart solutions for our customers, and for their customers. We will lead you through every step of injection molding.”

Of course the hemp that is used will have to pass quality control inspections, as some situations may require 3-5 crop rotations that we know about.  Set quality standards.

Hemp Plastic is an affordable bio based natural fibre composite to replace oil based raw materials.

Designed in Europe over 15 years and now produced in China, Hemp Plastics compete with engineering compounds in properties such as stiffness and high heat tolerance (HDT).

Both biodegradable and recyclable blends address global policies for CO2 reduction and oil dependence.

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Phytoremediation

Since the problem is too many toxins in the soil, water and air, the solution is to use effective means to clean it up.

Phytoremediation is the science of using plants to help clean our environment. Richard M. Davis, USA Hemp Museum frequently said that hemp is a biomass champion at pulling toxins from our environment. For example, hemp breathes excess CO2, a major greenhouse gas as it grows.

Focusing on agriculture is the best way to begin the process of using hemp to help us deal with climate change.Climate change is a global problem, not fixable by any one nation, though it will take only one nation to begin. When the cause of climate change is too many toxins in the environment, out of balance, the solution is to remove the excess toxins and restore balance. This is simple science.

In the name of greed, we have made parts of nature illegal while we wonder why we have environmental problems.

Hemp was planted around Chernobyl's nuclear disaster site to pull radioactive elements from the ground. Jack Herer said that hemp works like a mop absorbing nuclear toxins from the soil. Toxic metals like lead, which causes violent behavior and other health problems, are also absorbed by hemp and other phytoremediation plants like tobacco, mushrooms, thistle, sunflowers, etc. Science from many governments and educational institutions back up the need for us to implement an international phytoremediation program immediately to help solve climate change at the level of cause.

An immediate end to hemp prohibition will allow us to use this biomass champion in a hemp phytoremediation program.

"Phytoremediation can be defined as the decontamination of soil, sediment or water using plant growth. Industrial hemp, Cannabis sativa L., is renowned for its ability to grow rapidly. In one growing season, fiber hemp can yield 250 to 400 plants per square meter, with each plant reaching up to 5 meters in height. As a result, hemp has been identified as a plant with the potential to serve as a phytoremediator." The same way hemp was used to clean up the toxins around Chernobyl, we should be using hemp to clean up the toxins from the Gulf of Mexico "oil spill" (more like a volcano) and other environmental crisis situations.

Remember: The McGraw-Hill Companies reported in 2000 "Overall, phytoremediation has great potential for cleaning up toxic metals, pesticides, solvents, gasoline, and explosives."

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Medical

From Chris Conrad’s book HEMP: Lifeline To The Future

“Medical cannabis has been ubiquitous in human history, and its use was advised in virtually all ancient and medieval medicinal texts.” HLLTTF pg 10

Sir John Russell Reynolds, during his 30 years of experience as Queen Victoria's personal physician ... wrote in 1890 of marijuana, "When pure and administered carefully, it is one of the most valuable medicines we possess." page 14

"The complete protein in hempseed gives the body the combination of essential amino acids and essential fatty acids needed to maintain health.  It provides the components necessary to make human serum albumin and serum globulins, including the immune enhancing gamma globulin antibodies.  No epidemiological data indicate a rise in infections from smoking cannabis, as had once been claimed." page 145

"Cannabis smoke is an expectorant that cleans out air passages.  Heavy concentrations of smoke cause coughing that helps break up and expel phlegm.  The herb is an excellent dilator of the airways called the bronchi, opening them up to allow more oxygen into the blood, and of the bronchioles, small air tubes of the lungs.' page 150

In  Richard M. Davis’s book HEMP FOR VICTORY: THE WONDER HERB is an article written by the dynamic cannabis champion Dr. Lester Grinspoon.

“The study, from the University of California at San Francisco, found smoked marijuana to be effective at relieving the extreme pain of a debilitating condition known as peripheral neuropathy. It was a study of HIV patients, but a similar type of pain caused by damage to nerves afflicts people with many other illnesses including diabetes and multiple sclerosis.

Neuropathic pain is notoriously resistant to treatment with conventional pain drugs. Even powerful and addictive narcotics like morphine and OxyContin often provide little relief. This study leaves no doubt that marijuana can safely ease this type of pain.

As all marijuana research in the United States must be, the new study was conducted with government-supplied marijuana of notoriously poor quality. So it probably underestimated the potential benefit.
This is all good news, but it should not be news at all.

In the 40-odd years I have been studying the medicinal uses of marijuana, I have learned that the recorded history of this medicine goes back to ancient times and that in the 19th century it became a well established Western medicine whose versatility and safety were unquestioned.

From 1840 to 1900, American and European medical journals published over 100 papers on the therapeutic uses of marijuana, also known as cannabis.
Of course, our knowledge has advanced greatly over the years.

(Yes, this Dr. Lester Grinspoon with Cannabis Champion Ben Dronkers)
Scientists have identified over 60 unique constituents in marijuana, called cannabinoids, and we have learned much about how they work.

We have also learned that our own bodies produce similar chemicals, called endocannabinoids.

The mountain of accumulated anecdotal evidence that pointed the way to the present and other clinical studies also strongly suggests there are a number of other devastating disorders and symptoms for which marijuana has been used for centuries; they deserve the same kind of careful, methodologically sound research.

While few such studies have so far been completed, all have lent weight to what medicine already knew but had largely forgotten or ignored: Marijuana is effective at relieving nausea and vomiting, spasticity, appetite loss, certain types of pain, and other debilitating symptoms.

And it is extraordinarily safe -- safer than most medicines prescribed every day. If marijuana were a new discovery rather than a well-known substance carrying cultural and political baggage, it would be hailed as a wonder drug.”

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Intention and Prayer

Hemp is and has been part of our eco-system since the beginning, for Christians it goes back to Genesis 1:11.  In India’s Hindu religion there is Shiva. Rastafarians praise the Lord with ganja.  We must look at the role prayer and meditation, pure thought, can have on solving our problems too.  There are volumes on hemp and prayer for us to consider too.

“How can we do that?

“Stop being quiet about all this. Speak up. Rise a ruckus. Raise the issues. You might even raise some collective consciousness.

On just one issue, for instance. Why not grow hemp and use it to make paper? Do you have any idea how many trees it takes just to supply your world with daily newspapers? To say nothing of paper cups, carry-out cartons, and paper towels?

Hemp can be grown inexpensively and harvested easily and used not only for making paper, but the strongest rope, and the longest-lasting clothing, and even some of the most effective medicines our planet can provide.  In fact, cannabis can be planted so inexpensively, and harvested so easily, and has so many wonderful uses, that there is a huge lobby working against it.”

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Innovations

Hemp is an innovative, effective way to address climate change and a whole lot more. Be it innovations in industrial hemp, i.e. insulationtextileslife sciences to art, hemp is leading the way.

In this section many innovative companies and organization can be listed – This should not be limited to a mere USA perspective and a call is issued for our many organizations and activists past who have impacted on this process.

Japan Hemp Association, Time 4 Hemp, Marijuana Policy Project, Vote Hemp, Drug Policy Alliance...

ElectroHemp BioRad CleanUp is a green remediation implementation strategy and process to clean up Hazmat Locations and Superfund Sites in the St Louis Region and Beyond. For those who don’t know what’s going on at the Westlake Landfill, toxic nuclear waste from the Manhattan Project, yes the one that was used to create the first nuclear bomb, got stored in a toxic waste dump.  Cancer and other illness rates are rising in the area.

“MOhemp Energy-has designed Hemp Farming Equipment- that will allow Hemp Farmers a one pass hemp harvesting machine that separates the seeds, fibers, and hurds in the field without having to wait weeks for the stalks to cure and rett.  This process also leaves the Fibers LONG and they never touch the ground!”

And innovators who have passed on

Sister Somayah Kambui, Richard M. Davis, Captain Ed Adair, Jim Rosenfield, Dr. Emoto, Brownie Mary, Jack Herer, Peter McWilliams, Gatewood Galbraith...

Please post your videos and comments below of any and all hemp innovations that are helping you improve the quality of your life and the lives of those around you.

Kyoto Hemp Forum - History

“Hemp was the first plant known to have been cultivated” HLLTF pg 6

Richard M. Davis, USA Hemp Museum reports

Chris Conrad reported that in “8,000 BC- Civilization, agriculture & hemp textile industries begin in Europe and Asia, simultaneously” – HLLTTF

3727 BC- Cannabis called a “superior” herb in the world’s first medical text, or pharmacopeia, Shen Nung’s Pen Ts’ao, in China.” HLLTTF – Appendix 23

Of course the greatest historical treasure in this writer’s opinion is the Samurai celebration called Hemp and Fire. It is 1,200 years old and still celebrated. Hemp Industries Association and Vote Hemp celebrate Hemp History week annually.

Here's more on hemp history. We're writing the next chapter now.

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Food

We are maintaining an international food production and distribution system that results in millions of hungry people and millions more undernourished.  The simple shift to healthy, delicious hemp foods can solve the world hunger problem in less than a year.  Here’s how.

Grow, promote and sell hemp foods. Due to its short growing cycle, we can make enough to feed everybody while empowering countless souls.

Los Angeles hemp activist, Sister Somayah Kambui, was legendary for her hemp tacos.  She would serve them to many guest who loved the meal, concluding with her signature smile and the phrase, ‘not a bit of meat in it.’

Hemp flour is wonderful in many dishes like cakes, breads & pastas. Old dishes get a new, contemporary flare with names like Weed Wings© (chicken style veggies fried in hemp flour), Hempsagna© (lasagna made with hemp flour in the pasta and hemp TVP in the layers), etc.

Solving the United Nations declared world food crisis with hemp foods is a minor shift that can yield miraculous results. Wind pollinated hemp is so versatile it can be made into flour, oil, seeds, salads, tinctures, milk, tea, etc.  Hemp can also be used as a meat substitute (replace soy flour with hemp in the recipe); a hemp textured vegetable protein (TVP).

There are many hemp food companies on line, Hippie Butter, Australia Hemp Foods Australia, Nutivia, Living Harvest, Nature’s Path, Mantioba Harvest, Ruth’s Hemp Foods, Nature’s Hemp and many kitchen supply companies.

Support your favorite hemp food companies…if for no reasons other than flavor and the nutritional value found in this precious herb.

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Environment

“Most of the nutrients used by hemp are stored in the foliage and returned to the soil as mulch at the close of the season” HLLTTF pg 60 – Let’s get this process in gear, mass hemp growing can help.

Hemp as a tool to address cleaning up our environment and many health conditions we are facing.

In great part because of our perceived climate change crisis, the days of “vegetable criminalization” HLLTTF pg 287 are being forced to close, replaced by common sense.

Hemp Pulls Lead From the Soil

CNN’s #UnitedShades did a piece on the violence in Camden, NJCamden has had the same lead problem for the last 20 years going on in Flint and many other places.

There is a theory ‘Nero fiddled while Rome burned’ may be connected to the aqueduct's lead pipes, plumber’s colic. Here's the Harvard paper on the subject of lead causing violent behavior.  Here's a Mother Jones piece .  And a Forbes follow up.

"Overall, phytoremediation has great potential for cleaning up toxic metals, pesticides, solvents, gasoline, and explosives. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that more than 30,000 sites in the United States alone require hazardous waste treatment. Restoring these areas and their soil, as well as disposing of the wastes, are costly projects, but the costs are expected to be reduced drastically if plants provide the phytoremediation results everyone is hoping for."

Nero must stop fiddling. Phytoremediation pulls lead and other toxins from the environment.

Kyoto Hemp Forum - BioFuel

Me: ‘Mom it hurts when I do this’

Mom: ‘So don’t do that.’

Shift to clean energy

Our use of toxic energy is hurting our environment, even killing many of us. Bio fuels must be part of our clean, safe energy strategy to address man’s negative impact on nature and transform it into an empowerment too.  We have literally volumes of confirmed evidence that toxic energy is one of the primary roots of our current climate change crisis. Einstein warned about the decision to turn away from biofuels to nuclear. “nuclear power is one hell of a way to boil water”.  Henry Ford built and designed his car to run on biofuels.

A simple shift from energy that is killing us to clean, low cost or free energy sources makes is the smart thing to do.

It is time to stop pulling material from the earth with techniques like oil drilling, fracking, coal and nuclear energy and use what the Earth gives us naturally like biofuels, magnetic, hydro, wind and solar.

Energy from farming is clean.  No need to crack Mother Earth open to get it, Since much of our environmental pollution is the result of approved government policies, reversing this crisis is a matter of math.

The great hemp activist Willie Nelson in the last decade started his B20 BioWillie biodiesel making him a pioneer in the field of biofuel, lifting the banner raised by Henry Ford who worked with George Washington Carver to develop biofuels for Ford’s diesel cars.

An excellent article on the subject is by Lynn Osburn “Energy Farming in America” no nationalistic implications in the recommendation. “Farmers should be encouraged to grow energy crops capable of producing 10 tons per acre in 90-120 days. The crop has to be naturally high in cellulose.”

Please post your thoughts, videos and photos in the comments sections. As we build and implement the Action Plan for implementing the hemp solution and other smart actions, we're sharing ideas. Thanks.

Shifting to clean biofuels is not nuclear science, just common sense. Let’s do it!

Kyoto Hemp Forum - Architecture

Hemp in architecture is returning. The design opportunities it offers are enormous, taking us beyond the boxes of agricultural and industrial age structures. Imagine, energy efficient buildings built to withstand our modern storms, floods, reduce indoor radiation and fire retardant.

Hempcrete, which is a blend of hemp and lime is a carbon negative construction material. Hemp adobe, woods, papers, inks and textiles bring an easily renewable element to design. Restoring hemp to architecture is vital. Large populations, especially coastal areas, are or will be forced to move inland as the sea levels rise.  Called ‘climate change refugees’ they need quick access to shelter.  Structures can be designed to be expanded, repurposed as needed with the dynamic of 3D printing. Structures include our infrastructure too.

Many large populations must reduce nuclear radiation like New York City which is down river from the Indian Point nuclear plant or Westlake Landfill housing Manhattan Project nuclear waste, or 16,000 cracks in a Belgium nuclear plant, etc. Simple things like turning off and 3d printing nuclear sarcophagus can do a lot to lower our radiation levels.

This playlist below has more on hemp building materials that are being used in modern construction.

Hemp building materials are already expanding the definition of architecture.  Combined with 3D printing we can easily build structures that have rounded / dome corners that the wind goes around, not lifts up or blows away in the event of a hurricane or tornado.  We can add a layer of strong waterproofing material to prevent flood damage.  NASA has research into magnetic nuclear radiation shielding that may be incorporated into modern architecture reducing indoor radiation.
